Celtic Fans Must Pay Attention to Bundesliga Transfer Rumour – Opinion

Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes claims he is relaxed over the future of former Celtic star Jeremie Frimpong.

Jeremie’s stock continues to rise, and the interest is so high the sporting Director of the German club feels compelled to address the rumours.

As quoted by RecordSport Rolfes said: “We are very relaxed with Jeremie. It would be fatal if he didn’t draw attention to himself from big clubs with these performances.

“He is very conspicuous with his way of playing and is an enormously important player for us. I told him that he will still get his playing time with his quality within the tournament.

“He can decide a game with a single action because he’s incredibly quick and good at dribbling. We’ll be happy when he’s back [after the World Cup]with us. Jeremie has a long-term contract at Leverkusen, so we’re very relaxed.”

In many football circles, Frimpong is already considered one of the best full-backs in Europe who isn’t already at an elite club.

Celtic supporters should pay attention to what happens next with Frimpong because it delivers two positives for the Parkhead club; a tidy sell-on fee [Scotsman] and yet another example showing top young talent why they should move to Celtic.

We don’t have the cash or play in a league that makes us many European players’ final destination, but our USP should be grabbing some of the best top talents in Europe. If we can promise them game time, the chance to win trophies, progress as a player and play in front of an incredible support, then who knows what kind of talent we could pick up.

Admittedly Jeremie wasn’t with the club a long time. Finding the right balance between signing and selling could reap major rewards for Celtic.

If Jeremie does make a move from Bayer, we can turn to any young talent in Europe and point to the Dutch international.
