Celtic Eyeing Pre-Contact Deal for 20-Year-Old

CELTIC could be set to rekindle their interest in Charlton star, Alfie Doughty.

The left-sided player was wanted by the club in the summer but Charlton wouldn’t take a knockdown fee for the player, even though he was entering the final 12 months of his deal.

Charlie has since picked up a hamstring injury, as reported by RecordSport and is rumoured to be out for four months.

Manager Lee Bowyer confirmed: “It doesn’t look good at all. I’m not going to go into too much detail but from what I understand, he’s going to be out for a while.

“I don’t know how long but it’s not good. Obviously, he was running flat out in the game on the weekend and someone nudged him in the back.

The injury will take him well past January and by then he’s allowed to talk to any club about a deal. Celtic were heavily interested, the chance to pick Alfie up on a free to bring him in at the end of the season might be too good an opportunity for the club to pass up;

Given the length of his injury spell and if he does sign a pre-contract somewhere else, could Alfie have already played his final game for Charlton?

Only time will tell.
