Celtic Eye January Firepower as Rodgers Hints at Attacking Reinforcements

Brendan Rodgers has revealed how the Hoops will approach the January transfer window.

With Celtic already in an extremely strong position, 14 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership ahead of the Glasgow derby on Thursday, and having already beaten Philippe Clement’s side in the Scottish Cup final in May and the Premier Sports Cup earlier this month, the Hoops are flying under Rodgers.

When asked whether the Hoops would look to sign an attacking player in January, like they did with Nicolas Kuhn at the beginning of the year, Rodgers gave a positive answer.

He said: (The Celtic Way), “We hope so. I think I always like to add goals to my teams in January where I can add that threat and that freshness to the squad. We were able to do that last January with Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah which was great for us.

“We’ll look to do the same I just think I will look at it now 12 months on to where we were this time last year. We’re in a good place however we want to keep improving so we hope to be able to do that.”

Celtic do need that extra option, whether it be another striker to push Kyogo and Adam Idah, or a creative winger like Nicolas Kuhn.

Yang Hyun-jun has not proven to be that consistent goal threat yet.

With rumours of Luis Palma possibly departing the club in January, it could open the door for a new winger to add an extra dimension to an already impressive side.

However, as last Sunday’s 0-0 draw showed, when Celtic have injuries, out wide is an area where they undoubtedly can improve.
