Celtic Extend Premiership Lead to 12 Points After Rangers Slip-Up

Celtic extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to 12 points, with Rangers dropping 3 points against St. Mirren at the SMISA Stadium this evening.

The Hoops earlier today defeated Motherwell at Celtic Park 4-0 thanks to goals from Arne Engels from the penalty spot, Daizen Maeda, Nicolas Kuhn, and Reo Hatate.

With Rangers going into tonight’s game 12 points behind, with the pressure on, Philippe Clement’s men crumbled, with Oisin Smyth opening the scoring for St. Mirren in the 30th minute from the penalty spot after a foul from Jack Butland on Greg Kiltie.

The Ibrox side would equalize through second-half substitute Danilo in the second half; however, Caolan Boyd-Munce would strike in stoppage time from outside the box to all but end any title hopes that the Scottish media would have you believe Rangers still had before the game.

With Celtic facing St. Johnstone at Celtic Park on Sunday and Rangers traveling to Motherwell before they meet at Ibrox on Thursday, the Hoops will look to lay down yet another marker with a convincing victory at Celtic Park.
