According to a Greek journalist there are 1 or 2 clubs set to enquire about the availability of Celtic goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas.
The Greek goalie now looks to be Celtic’s third choice stopper after missing out on the squad altogether against Dundee. Joe Hart was in goals while Scott Bain took a place on the bench.
It’s clear Barkas is not in Celtic’s plans but the Hoops still have a lot of money tied up in the player.
The best option for the club would be to loan Barkas out and allow him to discover his form elsewhere. It would get the goalkeeper off the wage bill this season, even bringing in a small loan fee to the club and then next season we could sell him for a better price should he turn things around.

Giannis has been decent at reporting things from Greece. I’d expect the club’s interested in Vasilis to come from his home country.
It’s not worked out at all. There’s no doubting the goalkeeper is better than what he’s shown at Celtic but the ship has sailed on any sort of Celtic career.
Barkas was signed for big money under Neil Lennon and was supposed to replace Fraser Forster as number one. After a short tun in goals he was replaced by Scott Bain last term, he got a second shot at things but didn’t prove to be reliable and was dropped again.
The goalkeeper was part of an Athen’s side who knocked Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic out of the Champions League. It will likely remain his best performance at Celtic Park.
