Celtic Enter Race for Highly Rated English Right Back

CELTIC have been linked with a move for Ipswich Town right-back Dylan Crowe as the youngster weighs up his options this summer.

Dylan has been with the club since he was 12 but has never signed a professional deal with Ipswich. The player has been capped at Under 18 level by England and many scouts have been watching his progress.

According to the Scotsman, Celtic have joined the race and face competition from Huddersfield and Leipzig for the defender’s signature.

If the player was to sign for Celtic he would only cost a nominal fee enforced by FIFA. Ipswich would get a better compensation package if the 18-year-old moved to another club in England.

Former Celt and current Ipswich boss Paul Lambert seemed irked by the player’s refusal to sign a new deal before making it to the first team.

“He’s a young one developing at the minute so I’m pretty sure the club and his people will be talking,” Lambert said as reported by TWTD.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve played for England youth team or not, it doesn’t matter. That’s no major, major claim to fame,” he said.

“If you use that for your fame, my God you’re in trouble because you’ve got miles and miles to go.

“I think that’s important for any young player, just because you train with the first team or you play in a youth level game, it’s not professional football yet. Get in the first team and play a lot of games, then it becomes reality.”

Celtic are in desperate need of reinforcements at right back. Mikael Lustig has not signed a new deal as of yet, while Cristian Gamboa and Jeremy Toljan have left the club.
