Celtic Enter Discussions for January Left-Back Target

Celtic is pursuing a season-long loan for Wolverhampton Wanderers’ left-back Hugo Bueno as they look to bolster their defensive options ahead of the new season.

Bueno, a Spain Under-21 international, was previously targeted by Celtic in January, but the deal did not materialise. With renewed interest, Celtic hopes to secure his services this time around. [MailSport]

At 21 years old, Bueno has made 49 appearances for Wolves since his transfer from Areosa in 2019, scoring once. He made the transfer to the EPL tea for a mere £3k.

Currently, Celtic finds itself in need of strengthening the left-back position, particularly with Greg Taylor as the sole senior left-back available—Alexandro Bernabei is out on loan. With Taylor’s contract set to expire next summer, securing Bueno could provide much-needed competition and depth in that role.

Celtic start their season in just over a week, so the clock is ticking if they want to have the Spaniard on their books for Kilmarnock’s visit.
