Celtic Drum Up Interest For Flop; Loan Deal on the Cards

VASILIS BARKAS is set to move on loan to an unnamed Swedish club before the window slams shut next Monday. The Greek shot-stopper has had a tough time at Celtic, but his time at the club is looking like it is coming to an end. [Daily Record]

The Lennon signing was close to moving to Sheffield United. However, Celtic’s terms forced the deal to collapse. It will be interesting to see if Celtic pushes for an obligation or option to buy clause to be included in the loan deal.

Making just two appearances under Postecoglou, it was clear to see Barkas’ time in Glasgow was coming to an end. Joe Hart is the starting goalkeeper; there is no debate surrounding that. Back-up to the Englishman is Scott Bain, with young keeper Tobi Oluwayemi climbing the ranks.

Barkas came into Celtic after impressing with AEK Athens in a season that went so wrong he was one of the players that failed to impress. A fresh start is what the keeper is in need of.
