With Jota now confirmed, Celtic will turn their attention to other transfer matters with the Hoops being linked with Manchester City defender Ko Itakura.
Christopher Jullien looked set to be shown the exit door at Celtic Park during the week until the move to Schalke 04 broke down due to personal terms.
It looks likely that the Frenchman will be playing football elsewhere this coming season meaning that the Hoops will need to look for another central defender.
Japanese defender Itakura who was on loan at Schalke last season from Manchester City impressed in the second tier of German football making 32 appearances, scoring 4 goals as Kramer’s side were promoted back to the top flight.
The 25-year old has been capped 12 times for his country and may well be looking for a permanent home with Ange Postecoglou knowing all about the defender from his time in the J1 League.
However, it is understood that Celtic who have been heavily linked with Itakura are no longer interested in Itakura and will now look elsewhere to bring in a central defender [Football Scotland].
It looked as though this could have been a perfect fit with the Japanese defender being linked to CAA Base Ltd, the same agency Matt O’Riley is connected as well as Frank Trimboli who has been instrumental to many deals over the past year.
Knowing the way Ange works, there will be other targets on the table and Celtic can now movw to get them.
