Celtic Director of Football Update

Reports in the Scottish Daily Mail (Paper Edition 11/03/21, page 92), Matteo Tognozzi wants to speak to Celtic about becoming the Director of football at the club.

Tognozzi, currently a Juventus scout, has been touted as one of the possible men for the new role set to be created at Celtic Park.

As the days march on, it’s clear Celtic are going to have to start getting things in place. Some say the Hoops must first appoint a director football before hiring a manager.

If the club was to hire people for both roles without making it clear to both who and how they will be working, it could be a recipe for disaster.

If a DoF is appointed then any manager coming in knows straight off the bat what he has in store.

There are less than 100 days until Celtic play in a Champions League qualifier and between now and then, personnel change at almost every level has to take place but nothing can really get going until we have the decision makers into the club who can gut the team of anyone who doesn’t have their heart in it.
