Reported Celtic defensive target Ko Itakura’s Olympic dream with his nation Japan has come to an end, losing out to Mexico.
The host nation attempted to secure a bronze medal in the tournament after losing out in the semi-finals to Spain. But they lost out narrowly 3-1 against Mexico.
Itakura was a second-half substitute on the day, coming on in the 71st minute but couldn’t have the impact needed to claw back the score and take home a medal.

The Manchester City defender has been heavily linked with a move to the Hoops on loan, but the 24-year olds involvement in the games has held that up.
So, if the club were to make a move, you would be hoping now that Japan has exited the tournaments that will be getting done.
Ange Postecoglou is in desperate need of defensive reinforcements, and that was once again made clear in the 4-2 victory against Jablonec on Thursday.
