Celtic right-back Hatem Elhamed has posted a message this afternoon which appears to hint towards a long term injury.

The defender had to come off during Celtic’s 2-1 win against Lazio on Thursday after he appeared to overstretch trying to stop Lazio from advancing. The Israeli looked in a lot of pain and couldn’t continue.

It appears as if the player might be out for a prolonged period of time going on his Insta post.

Neil Lennon has been all three of his right-backs so far this season with Hatem, Bauer and Frimpong all getting game time at different points. The emergence of Frimpong has been a real bonus for the Celtic team given he was supposed to be brought in to go into the developmental side.

We will likely find out what’s going on with Hatem and his injury over the course of the weekend. While we have good cover in the area, the defender has been superb this season and it’s still a major blow.
