Celtic and Ange Postecoglou were on the hunt for a striker in January with there being two predominant names mentioned throughout the month – Cho Gue-sung and Oh Hyeon-gyu.
It was the latter who ended up moving to Glasgow although recently, Cho outlined his great disappointment at being unable to come to Celtic. At the time, it appeared he was more likely to make the move although after a deal couldn’t be agreed, attention was turned to Oh who eventually signed on a five and a half year deal.
Cho is certainly aggrieved that he is not in the shoes of his fellow countryman however he is not regretful of being conservative and staying home for a while longer (Daily Record):
“When my move to Celtic didn’t happen, honestly I was upset. But I have no regrets about going to Europe right away. I still think I have a lot to learn as a striker.”
Still 25, there is time yet for Cho to eventually make the move abroad and this is something he has not ruled out:
“I am convinced I will get another opportunity someday. My ambition last year was to go to Europe, but now it has changed. I have to focus on training and work hard.”
” I ask myself the question, if I don’t get to go to a club in Europe will I regret it for the rest of my career? And the answer is no.”
As well as speaking about his own future, Cho also heaped praise on Celtic striker Oh. The 21 year old was unfortunate to see his recent South Korea strike called offside, said Cho, who has known he would fulfil his potential for a while:

“I have known Oh Hyeon-gyu would be a good player for a long time and you can see he’s really starting to show it now. He did really well when he came on and was unlucky to see a goal ruled out.”
Despite Oh getting what Cho initially wanted (a transfer to Celtic), the South Korean is in no way remorseful towards him. In addition, Cho has still refused to rule out a move to Europe and is a player to keep an eye on for Celtic fans.
