With Yang, Oh, and Tilio already called up, and the possibility of Kyogo and Maeda joining the Japan squad, Celtic finds itself in a situation where multiple first-team players could be unavailable for a significant period in January and some of February, missing four, potentially five, games.

Despite the Scottish Professional Football League’s Rule G7, which allows clubs to request the postponement of matches if three or more players are unavailable due to international selection, Rodgers has expressed his intention to proceed without seeking any postponements.

Asked about postponing games, the manager was quoiyted by SunSport in november, saying, “No. We just play the games. I don’t think there’s any need.

“It’s like the Africa Cup of Nations, it’s part of the deal.

“If you have a number of Asian players in your squad you know this might happen, so it’s about dealing with it.”

Celtic could be in a position where they have no first team strikers avalible to them, which would mean someone would have to play out of position, like Abada, who has played through the middle for Celtic before, step up from the B for a youth player, or Celtic will need to get their business done early in the January window. The Hoops have already been linked toa few strikers ahead of the window opening.
