Celtic’s late move to convince Greg Taylor to sign a new deal could signal the end of Jeffrey Schlupp’s short-term stint at the club.
The Ghana international arrived on loan from Crystal Palace on January deadline day, brought in to add depth and experience on the left-hand side.
Schlupp has featured regularly since his arrival, including a start in Celtic’s Champions League clash against Bayern Munich at the Allianz, where he delivered a brilliant performance under pressure.
However, with the club now making a renewed attempt to secure Taylor on a long-term deal, it raises serious questions about Schlupp’s future beyond the summer.
RecordSport reports Celtic have returned to the negotiating table with Taylor for a third time, following two previous rejections – the last of which came back in January, just weeks before Schlupp’s loan deal was finalised.

Brendan Rodgers is reportedly the driving force behind the push to retain Taylor, who he sees as a key figure in his squad moving forward even with Kieran’s return.
There has been no indication from Celtic that they plan to make his move permanent, and the club’s actions on Taylor suggest that won’t change.
Whether Greg accepts the new terms our not, could this be a signal Brendan is looking beyond the Palace man?
Schlupp’s time in Glasgow may ultimately be viewed as a useful short-term solution during a transitional period at left-back. But with Taylor’s situation shifting and Tierney on his way, the likelihood of the utility man extending his stay at Parkhead appears to be less likely.
