Celtic‘a fourth backup goalkeeper Conor Hazard is now nearing a switch to Plymouth Argyle, with discussions currently in the final stages.
Despite speculation suggesting the contrary, Hazard remains tied to Celtic until the end of next season, having extended his contract prior to his loan stint at HJK Helsinki. [Scott Burns]
Conor had largely been a peripheral figure at Celtic Park. Thrust into the spotlight during the tense quadruple treble Scottish cup final amidst the pandemic, he showed flashes of brilliance by emerging as the hero in the nerve-wracking penalty shootout.

Yet, despite his memorable contributions, Hazard has struggled to cement his place as a regular starter. His discomfort and occasional lack of confidence between the posts has been noticeable, prompting many to agree that a move away may be in his best interests.
His imminent transfer to Plymouth Argyle, therefore, appears to be a well-timed decision for the 24-year-old shot-stopper. The opportunity to don the gloves on a more consistent basis could be the catalyst Hazard needs to refine his craft and grow his game.
We wish Conor all the best as he embarks on this new journey with Plymouth Argyle.
