Confirmed: No Guard Of Honour for Celtic Against St. Mirren

It was expected that Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic would not receive a guard of honour at Ibrox last week.

Despite this, many assumed they would get one against St. Mirren at Celtic Park this Saturday; however, Buddies manager Stephen Robinson has confirmed this will not be the case.

The Northern Irishman said it was a decision that was outwith his control.

For Celtic, in terms of respect, this is vastly disappointing, although it shouldn’t bother them too much.

If fans and players alike get too hung up over something such as a guard of honour rather than what is going on on the pitch, there are problems.

Nonetheless, it would’ve been a nice gesture from the Saints, and now, there are just two sides in the league who could give the champions a guard of honour in Hibernian and Aberdeen.

It would be heavily appreciated by all those involved with Celtic if either of these clubs gave one, unlike St. Mirren.
