Celtic Confirm Benkovic Interest

JOHN KENNEDY has confirmed Filip Benkovic is on a shortlist of players the club are looking at to come in and replace Christopher Jullien for the rest of the season.

The Frenchman went down with an injury against Dundee Utd, right before the Glasgow Derby.

We now know Chris will be out for 3-4 months which means the club is in desperate need of a commanding centre-back.

Filip has been at the club before and has had his Cardiff loan cut short because they only played him in one game this season.

The bhoys could help rejuvenate the Croatian and at the same time, get much-needed talent in the backline.

Speaking to CelticTV, Kennedy confirmed the interest:

“It’s a position now we have to look at, we’re a bit short in that area

“Filip is one we’re very well aware of, we know what he’s capable of and he’s a guy who’s been here and knows what it’s about.”

“He’s certainly one who’s one the shortlist”

Leicester are keen to get Filip out on loan but it has to be right for all parties. Working at the club again should be appealing to the former treble winner. However, Neil Lennon used the player sparingly when he came in as Celtic gaffer due to his loan deal being up shortly after.
