Celtic have closely followed Norwegian winger Sondre Ørjasæter throughout the past year ahead of the January transfer window.
The 21-year-old, who plies his trade for Eliterserien outfit Sarpsborg 08, scored five goals and set up seven across 28 appearances in the Norwegian top flight in 2024. Such a return gets even more impressive, considering his side finished ninth in the table.
Ørjasæter only joined Sarpsborg at the beginning of this year but has impressed as much that the Hoops, along with RB Salzburg, are interested in him ahead of next month, according to Nettavisen.
Celtic’s links with Ørjasæter come not long after reported interest in Belgian wide-man Michel-Ange Balikwisha resurfaced. Brendan Rodgers is clearly on the lookout for a winger in January, and rightly so.

There has been an over-reliance on Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kuhn over the first half of the season, and if you were to ask most fans where they’d want the club to sign someone next month, it would be out wide.
Ørjasæter looks like a promising young player who is highly rated in his homeland. He plays alongside former Celt Stefan Johansen at Sarpsborg. The now 33-year-old enjoyed a relatively successful two and a half years in Glasgow’s east end.
The midfield will undoubtedly give Ørjasæter some words of advice should he consider a move to join the Scottish Premiership champions.
