Daniel Kelly’s move to Millwall has hit a snag due to a delay in paperwork from Celtic, causing frustration at the London club.

The young midfielder had completed his medical and signed his contract with Millwall earlier in the week, but the finalisation of his transfer has been held up, preventing him from making his debut this weekend.

Kelly, whose contract with Celtic is set to expire on December 31, had opted not to renew his deal, turning down an offer of £5,000 a week in favour of seeking new opportunities.

His decision not to stay with the Scottish champions led to a shift in his status within the team; after learning of Kelly’s intentions, manager Brendan Rodgers quickly moved him out of the first-team environment. Instead of joining the rest of the squad for their preseason tour in America, Kelly was relegated to training with the B team.

Celtic have made about £400k from selling the midfielder this summer.
