Celtic Captain Reflects

SCOTT BROWN left Celtic last summer, leaving the captains armband behind him. Replacing a character like Scott is impossible but Callum McGregor has stepped up to the plate. He has taken the armband and led Celtic this season, he is a credit to the club.

Speaking to Celtic TV, the academy graduate reflected on his time with the role he has undertaken;

In terms of being a captain, it is a huge honour for me. It’s something I carry with me every day that responsibility  I love that responsibility.  I don’t shy away from it, ever.

In terms of the first half of the season, I think it has been relatively positive. We managed to win the first trophy that was on offer, as a group that is not down to individuals. That is down t how we work as a group and the demands that the manager puts on us, as players, we need to carry them out.

As I said at the time hopefully that is just the starting point for us in terms of being successful.

He continued;

In the second half of the season, we have a really good opportunity to finish the season strongly. Then hopefully we have sat here with a good first year as stepping into this role and helping the team

Callum McGregor has already won a trophy within the first six months of taking the captaincy, this will be his first of many. He represents the club in a great manner and takes pride while doing so.

It is clear to see there is a great mentality in the dressing room, the likes of Joe Hart will help add to this with his experience, but also the passion of Anthony Ralston.
