Celtic captain Callum McGregor is well on his way to joining the pantheon of legends that are part of the lucrative 500 club at Parkhead.
The 29-year-old made his 400th appearance for the club in the 2-0 victory against Dundee United and will now be targeting the next major milestone in green and white hoops [Celtic FC].

In the 135 year history of the club only 12 men have managed over 500 appearances for the Celts with the most recent addition being McGregor’s former captain and friend Scott Brown.
The now Fleetwood Town boss set a terrific example to all players working alongside him at the club and has had a big influence on McGregor’s career which is why it was so fitting to see him takeover as captain when Brown left the club.

At the very top of the list is the imperious Billy McNeill leading the way on 790 appearances for the club followed by Paul McStay, Roy Aitken, Danny McGrain, Pat Bonner, Alec McNair, Bobby Lennox, Bobby Evans, Jimmy McMenemy, Jimmy Johnstone and Tommy Burns.
Ange Postecoglou described McGregor as being a club legend and who are we to really argue with that?
The academy graduate has also currently won a total of 16 major honours while at Celtic which equals the hauls of the likes of Bertie Auld, Tommy Gemmell and Stevie Chalmers.
At 29, there is plenty of gas left in the tank and has he averages around 52 games per season in recent years it’s incredible to think what feat he could reach if he plays until the age of Brown who left the club when he was 36-years-old.
