Celtic Break Silence Over Ibrox Thuggery: Two Incidents Under Investigation

Celtic have issued a strong condemnation following crowd misconduct during Thursday night’s 3-0 defeat to Rangers at Ibrox. The match saw two troubling incidents, with midfielder Arne Engels struck by a coin and manager Brendan Rodgers targeted by a missile thrown into the dugout.

A club spokesperson told CeltsAreHere:

“We understand that Police Scotland are currently investigating two separate incidents.

“The repeated targeting of our players and staff with missiles is quite appalling and completely unacceptable.”

The events at Ibrox have once again highlighted ongoing safety concerns for Celtic players and staff at the venue. It was not so long ago in the past where a member of the Celtic medical team required stitches after being hit by an object thrown from the Rangers hospitality area.

There should be accountability and swift action to address what is a recurring issue. Police Scotland’s investigation is ongoing, and the focus will now turn to identifying the individuals responsible for the appalling actions witnessed on the day.

The away support is supposed to be back for the next two derbies this season with a net installed over away fans at both Celtic Park and Ibrox.
