Celtic are making a number of moves in the transfer market this summer. Odin Thiago Holm joined from Valerenga along with Marco Tilio, who made the move to Glasgow from down under. These are the solitary two deals that have been confirmed so far but there appear to be a few others in the pipeline.
A significant bid has been tabled by the Hoops for Polish defender Maik Nawrocki and the signings of South Korean duo Yang Hyun-jun and Kwon Hyeok-kyu appear to be far down the line with each player’s club confirming deals. How the latter found out about Celtic’s initial interest is rather intriguing.

Every South Korean man has to carry out two years of military service and whilst doing his, Kwon was on loan at Gimcheon Sangmu for a while. It was there a military sergeant told him of Celtic’s initial interest, which came two years ago. Kwon said (Glasgow Live): “The first time I heard was from a sergeant in the army when I was at Gimcheon Sangmu, an unusual way for me to find out!”
It is positive for Celtic that Kwon has completed his military service. His fellow countryman and potential new teammate, Yang, has yet to which may cause some issues in the future. Nevertheless, they will both look to contribute immediately in Glasgow, Kwon particularly aiming to do his ex sergeant proud.
