Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed the thinking behind his decision to drop Callum McGregor from the squad to face Motherwell this afternoon.

Rodgers said: (Sky Sports), “Yeah, he just felt a little bit in his abductor yesterday. He’s obviously played so many games, so many minutes, and we don’t really want to take the risk with that. That’s the reason he misses out today.”
The recovery timeline for an abductor injury depends on how severe the strain is.
For a mild strain, McGregor may only need a week or two off, with rest and light rehab exercises to ease back into training without further strain.
A moderate strain usually requires about 3-6 weeks, as physical therapy focuses on restoring muscle flexibility and strength.
Severe strains, where muscle fibers tear fully, can mean up to 12 weeks on the sidelines, especially if surgery is needed.
Hopefully, it is just a mild strain for McGregor, as the Celtic skipper is a vital player for Brendan Rodgers’ side and would be a huge miss with a busy schedule over the coming months.
