Celtic Boss Reflects on the Transfer Window

ANGE POSTECOGLOU is chuffed after the transfer window shut on Thursday night, leaving him with a brilliant squad packed with quality and, importantly for the manager, depth.

After scraping by with a thin squad last season, the Celtic manager essentially has two teams at the club. We saw it for the first time on Wednesday, when the manager made nine changes to his starting lineup, yet all the players on the pitch could easily be in with a shout to start for Celtic in a big game.

Speaking to the Daily Record, the manager reflected on the transfer window and admitted he was pleased with the business that the club managed to complete.

“The transfer window has been positive. We had some objectives going into it, obviously our priority was to sign Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota on permanent deals and then make sure we plugged the gaps in our squad.

“We’ve come out of it with a squad that’s capable of tackling what’s ahead. We’ve also given some guys opportunities to get game time elsewhere, which is important in terms of the size of the squad.”

Celtic managed to move some deadwood who were just collecting a wage on and get some players, like Mikey Johnston, some much-needed minutes and consistency.

The club also brought in nine players, securing the loans of Jota and Carter-Vickers, ensuring the club kept moving forward after last season’s tremendous achievement.
