Celtic Boss Confirms Striker Has Ruptured his Hamstring

In amongst all the news coming out of Neil Lennon’s pre-match press conference this afternoon, one thing seemed to be overlooked because it was only mentioned in passing.

The interim Celtic boss was asked about player recruitment and what he and the club were looking for going forward even if he wouldn’t be the full-time man come the summer. It was mentioned that it would always be exciting, attacking players who would be targeted but Neil was also keen to point out we had players like that already at the club sitting idle.

The Irishman mentioning Leigh Griffiths who has been out for a long period of time but the other nugget of information we got from the interim Celtic boss was the severity of the injury sustained to Vakoun Bayo when he was away with his country.

It was thought the striker had a groin strain but it appears Celtic’s January signing has ruptured his hamstring.

Answering a question from the Cynic Bhoys Neil made the revelation.

“We would like to be more forceful in the final third”

“You have to remember Bayo is out, he’s ruptured his hamstring, so we’ve not seen any of him, well I haven’t since I’ve come in.”

“We’ve also had Leigh Griffiths out and there’s a lot of goals in that boy”
