NEIL LENNON had to leave Scott Sinclair behind in Scotland while the squad headed out to Romania to take on Cluj. The player was fully fit but because of potential interest in the player from clubs down south, he was left behind in case he had to quickly participate in a medical.
As the deadline passed for English clubs on Thursday evening, there was no sign of the Rodgers signing’s departure from the club. In fact, nothing proper materialised. It’s crazy to think he was told to stay behind and when Mikey Johnston got injured he would have likely started the game against Cluj over Lewis Morgan.
As the English window is now closed until January it looks like the midfielder will be staying put but not only that – Sinclair is likely to go straight back into the squad for the Motherwell game.
Speaking to CelticTV, Neil Lennon confirmed there was interest but it just wasn’t to be.
“There was interest in him but it never materialised and he’ll be in the squad for tomorrow.”
Celtic take on Motherwell in their second domestic match of the season and are looking to make it six points out of six in the SPFL.
