Celtic Boss Calls For Squad To Show Clinical Edge

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou is looking for his side to show a clinical edge in taking their chances after passing up opportunities across two legs against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt.

Postecoglou’s Celtic side have been very impressive going forward throughout this season, but at times have been left frustrated by not taking their opportunities in front of goal.

The 56-year old believes that was the same during Thursday’s European tie, stating that he wants his side to show the quality he knows they have in front of goal.

As quoted by the Daily Record, when asked about Liel Abada showing some fight as the game slipped away from his team, he said: “He did, but he missed some chances.

“That’s the quality we want them to get to, and that’s his challenge because I think he could have had at least a couple of goals in Norway.

“That’s what I am talking about with levels of performance. It’s not just we didn’t play well, but in both games, we had chances and haven’t tested the keeper. Daizen Maeda had one as well.

“Liel did very well, but I’m hoping he’s disappointed he didn’t score a couple of goals because he has scored in Europe before.”

There are points this season that you can think back to and imagine what scorelines might have been had we seen a more clinical edge from players in front of goal.

On several occasion, this group have shown their quality in attacking areas of the pitch, with great quality and the ability to rip teams apart in minutes. But unfortunately, there are some games we haven’t seen enough of that.

Of course, you cannot be at your best every game, but what is clear about Ange is he strives for improvements, and this is a side that he is looking for some improvement in his time.

It is easy to forget we are still in the early stages of a rebuild, so hopefully, that is something that comes with more time and experience playing alongside one another as part of this Celtic side.
