Celtic are said to be “bemused” by reports that a bidding war for star defender Cameron Carter-Vickers is on the cards.

The American defender arrived in Glasgow on loan during Ange Postecoglou’s first summer window at Celtic, and that loan turned permanent the following summer.
Leeds and Sunderland have both been credited with interest in the player, but RecordSport report that Celtic are relaxed over the situation and are not anticipating any movement this summer.
Furthermore, Brendan Rodgers isn’t aware of any moves in the works for the American international, who missed out on the latest squad and was given a rest after a tiring season.
With CCV expected to stay, Celtic are looking to improve the backline and bring in someone to partner him. They’ve tried with Nawrocki, Lagerbielke, Trusty and Nat Phillips, but none could displace Liam Scales from the left side.
The Hoops have been linked with J-League star Hayato Inamura in recent days. Could he be the one to finally be the long-term partner to Carter-Vickers?

The Hoops have already improved their defence this summer. Kieran Tierney’s return was confirmed last week, instantly improving the left-back slot. Uncertainty still surrounds the future of Greg Taylor, but it doesn’t look likely to be in Scotland.
