Celtic have narrowly missed out on the signing of Giorgi Kochorashvili after a late attempt to derail the midfielder’s switch to Sporting Lisbon.

The Georgian international has been a standout for Levante this season, playing a crucial role in their push for promotion back to La Liga.
His form caught the attention of Celtic, who tabled a formal offer over the weekend in a bid to secure the 25-year-old for next season. However, Levante proceeded with a €6 million deal—rising to €7.5 million with add-ons—agreeing terms with Sporting that also include a 15 per cent sell-on clause.

Celtic’s late move prompted Levante to accelerate the deal with the Portuguese giants, ensuring there were no further complications.
Speculation continues to swirl around the future of Reo Hatate, with murmurs suggesting a possible summer exit. The Japanese midfielder has attracted interest in recent windows and there’s a possibility Celtic will look to cash in this summer.
That has sparked a wider midfield search, with the Hoops linked to several options including Motherwell’s Lennon Miller. The 18-year-old has been consistently impressive this season, but teammate Andy Halliday has cast doubt on a move to Celtic, suggesting Miller may favour a club offering guaranteed game time—possibly in Serie A—over a squad role in Glasgow.
