Celtic will not face any disciplinary action from UEFA after the Green Brigade’s ‘Show Israel the Red Card’ banner was displayed during the first leg of their Champions League knockout play-off against Bayern Munich at Celtic Park.

There were concerns that UEFA would take action, given their well-documented zero-tolerance stance on what they deem to be political messaging inside stadiums. However, no case has been opened against Celtic, despite the high-profile nature of the protest, SunSport reports.
Ahead of the second half of the Bayern Munich match, the Green Brigade unfurled a large banner, while supporters in the section below held up smaller red cards carrying the same message. The protest was aimed at pressuring UEFA and FIFA to take action against Israel, calling for the country’s suspension from international football due to its actions in Palestine.
UEFA has previously punished clubs for political displays. However, SunSport has confirmed that Celtic will not be sanctioned on this occasion.
The ‘Show Israel the Red Card’ campaign has since gained momentum worldwide, with supporters of various clubs replicating the protest. What started at Celtic Park has spread across football, with similar actions being seen in stadiums around the world.
Hibs fans joined the protest in their match against Celtic at the weekend.
