Celtic tried to re-sign former striker Gary Hooper his agent has claimed.
Speaking on the Celtic Now and Forever podcast William Glavin said:
“Gary loved his time at Celtic.
“There have been a couple of occasions over the years when he could’ve been back but it just didn’t quite work out.
“Some people tried to do it I remember a few years back actually and it didn’t quite work out.”
The agent also confirmed Neil Lennon tried to sign the player for Bolton during the Irishman’s ill-fated time down south.
“Neil Lennon tried to get him at Bolton, when he was there – just couldn’t do it at that time.”
Hooper was a goalscoring machine for Celtic during his spell at the club. Neil Lennon brought him in from Scunthorpe and was rewarded greatly.
The frontman would eventually move to Norwich for around £5m [BBC] to try his hand in the EPL but it never really worked out at that level. Hooper gave a good portion of his career to Sheffield Wednesday before moving abroad.
He now finds himself in the Indian Super league. When you think of proper goalscorers, Gary Hooper was always good to find the back of the net.
His natural instincts as a forward won Celtic many games.
