CELTIC could be set to land a transfer windfall with securing the permanent sale of Jack Hendry.
The defender has been one of Oostende’s top performers this season and it’s led the hierarchy at the club to pursue a more permanent deal.
Hendry was surplus to requirements at Celtic when he went out on loan, fair play to the Scottish defender for taking a chance which appears to have paid off.
Stephen McGowan of Mail Sport writes:
‘Celtic are set to rake in a £1.75m windfall for Scotland defender Jack Hendry. Belgian side KV Oostende are ready to activate a purchase option in their loan deal with the Parkhead club after the 25-year-old helped them build one of the strongest defensive records in the Pro League.
And they hope it will silence talk of a potential return to Celtic for Hendry, who joined Oostende in a temporary switch after falling out of favour at the Scottish champions.’
Even though Hendry has been doing well, there doesn’t appear to be a desire to keep him and give him a second chance next season. Perhaps he might have got some game time had there been a recall clause in his contract this month, with Celtic’s defensive injury woes.
Hendry is going from strength to strength and if the club can recoup the money they spent on the player, it would be a good deal for all parties involved.
