Celtic’s new chief exec Dominic McKay stepped down with immediate effect this afternoon after just three months in the role. [London Stock Exchange]
The club have mentioned it’s for personal reasons and if that is true, we can only wish Dom all the best for him and his family.
Celtic headhunted Dom McKay and had him in place for the start of this season to give the club stability once Peter Lawwell moves on.
Dom came in and was looking to modernise the club, this stops in its tracks today as the former SRU man steps down.
For now, Celtic have appointed an acting Chief exec Michael Nicholson who has been at the club for eight years and has been part of running the club in that time.
Nicholson will take on the role for now, but we’re unsure if he’s in the running to take the role on a permanent basis.
The Hoops have a big internal restructuring programme to be getting on with and right now we don’t have a permanent Chief exec to oversee the kind of change needed at Celtic.
The optimism among fans that things were changing for the better will now be on hold as we look to see what the club do next.
