Celtic Announce Marco Tilio on Long-Term Contract

CELTIC have confirmed the acquisition of talented forward, Marco Tilio.

The attacker has signed a 5-year deal with the Hoops, subject to international clearance.

The 22-year-old Australian striker comes with a rich pedigree of performances for Melbourne City and the Australia national team.

His professional debut came in March 2019 with Sydney FC’s NPL side, leading to his inclusion in the senior squad later that year.

Accumulating 11 goals and earning the FYL Golden Boot with Sydney FC, Tilio’s robust performances caught Melbourne City’s attention. In September 2020, he swapped his Sydney FC jersey for Melbourne City’s to enhance his game time and career progression. He didn’t disappoint, netting his first goal in his eighth appearance for the club in April 2021. He proved to be instrumental in Melbourne City’s three consecutive A-League Premiership title victories.

On the international stage, Tilio’s been equally impactful. He began with the Young Socceroos in 2019, netting a hat trick on his international debut against Vietnam U-20s. His senior international breakthrough was marked by a goal against Argentina in a 2-0 victory. He was also named in Australia’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
