CCV Reveals The ‘Belief and Experience’ Driving Celtic’s Champions League Success

Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers reflected on his Man of the Match performance against Dinamo Zagreb post-match.

Despite the Hoops not securing all three points, the Celtic defender was a standout against the Croatian champions.

He said: (The Celtic Way),”We came here to try and win the game and I thought we played fairly well without maybe a cutting edge in the final third. But is definitely a positive point at the end.

“I think it is probably a decent points tally at this stage of the competition. It’s good to get the clean sheet.

“As a team, we have that collective belief at this level and determination to, even maybe when we are not creating chances and winning games, to stick in there and defend as a team. I felt we did that well.

“Maybe we have the experience. It’s our third year as a group now in the Champions League and through that time have maybe grown as a team in confidence and belief and you are probably seeing the rewards of that now.”

As usual, Carter-Vickers was immense at the heart of the defence and has certainly formed an unbelievable partnership alongside Auston Trusty, which, in itself, has pushed CCV in many ways.

With Liam Scales breathing down their necks on the bench, competition can only be good at this stage of the season, and CCV reflects on this with back-to-back clean sheets away from home in the Champions League.

Supporters are now beginning to see real solidity at the back in Europe, something that has been lacking for a very long time.

Despite a disappointing attacking display last night against Zagreb, defensively, Carter-Vickers, Trusty, and Kasper Schmeichel were all spot on.
