The defender has been a great player for Celtic since he arrived at the club last summer. Making his loan deal permanent this summer was arguably one of Celtic’s best pieces of business.
He joins some top names in the squad that will compete against England, Wales and Iran for a spot in the next round of the competition. America has a strong squad and does have the potential to surprise a few.
The news came through just after Carter-Vickers had captained a 2-1 win in Motherwell, a vital win for the Hoops as they kept their lead at the top of the table intact.
Portugal has yet to confirm their World Cup squad, with Jota listed in the provisional list. He’ll be eager to learn his fate.
