Although Carl Starfelt might have taken some time to settle into the world that is Scottish Football, he has slowly become a player that Postecoglou and fans alike can rely upon.
The Swedish defender played a key role in the Hoops run of recent form, as they continue to look more solid at the back as the weeks go on.
Speaking to the Daily Record, before Saturday’s fixture with Livingston, the 26-year old admitted he was loving life with the club, but the Scottish league was different to anything he had faced & opened up on the partnership he and Cameron Carter Vickers are creating.
“It’s physical here in Scotland, and the tempo is very good. It’s high and different to anything I have experienced before.
“It’s fun to play football here; I’m enjoying it. Also, the fans in Scotland are passionate in a way that I’ve not seen before.
“That’s what you want as a player. You want passion and emotion so you can be drawn into it.”
He continued, saying: “The more me and Cam play together, the better we understand each other.
“We are now feeling positive vibes in the team and in the club. We need to keep building on it.
“We are going over to Hungary to try to win and, if we bring our best form, we have a very good chance of doing that.”
Of course, as previously mentioned, the media interview with Starfelt took place before yesterday’s disappointing draw, which also saw him hobble off injury due to a hamstring issue.
At this point, it doesn’t look too optimistic in terms of being fit and available for Thursday’s trip to Hungary when we faced Ferencvaros.
However, with Starfelt, we look to have a decent defender on our hands for the next few years, and his partnership alongside his fellow central defenders will hopefully continue to blossom when he makes a return from injury.
