Right-back Alistair Johnston took on the Celtic armband with aplomb on Sunday afternoon, putting in a Man of the Match display as the Hoops romped to victory at Fir Park.
The Canadian remained resolute defensively and, in the second half, found the back of the net with a powerful diving header to put his side 2-0 up.

Johnston led by example and took to Instagram post-match, captioning a few photos from the match with a simple ‘Honoured’ message.
Notably, his international teammate Kamal Miller responded to the post.
Miller, who plays his club football with Portland Timbers in the MLS, spoke the mind of every Celtic fan, hailing Johnston as a future captain:

Currently third in the Hoops’ leadership pecking order behind Callum McGregor and Cameron Carter-Vickers, the 26-year-old, in his almost two years at Celtic, has taken to the fans and understood the elite levels of performance and success required at the club.
Johnston is a key leader in the dressing, and should he remain in Glasgow’s east end for a prolonged spell, Miller’s prediction could well come to fruition.
Although having Callum McGregor back fit on Wednesday would be much welcomed by manager Brendan Rodgers, Johnston might hope his spell on the sidelines is extended so he can keep hold of the armband for another game.
