Cameron Carter-Vickers has expressed how he thrives under the high-pressure environment at the club, describing not winning as “unacceptable.”

Since joining Celtic from Tottenham in 2021—initially on loan before making the move permanent—Carter-Vickers has been pivotal in the team securing seven domestic trophies over three years.

When he’s dropped out of the team due to injury this season, the performance levels have dropped and Celtic became more vulnerable at the back.

Currently on international duty, Carter-Vickers is gearing up for friendlies against Colombia and Brazil, followed by the Copa America at the end of the month.

Speaking to the American about his tenure with Celtic, he admitted Celtic was hard to compare to international football, opening up on the mental side of the game.

“It’s a massive club, one thing I like about it is the pressure is always there,” he said as quoted by SunSport.

“The title race this year got a bit close and you could see from our fans that it would have been unacceptable to lose it. That definitely helps you and keeps you on your game.

“Football wise, some of the games are really good, some really tough and others not to much. It’s hard to compare to international football.”

This season, the players have seen first-hand that a draw feels like a loss and a loss is the end of the world, especially when Rangers were breathing down our necks.

However, despite being neck and neck at one point, Celtic’s quality shone through and they won the league by eight points.
