Cameron Carter-Vickers is back in full training with Celtic after completing his recovery from a minor knee operation.

The USA international reportedly had surgery shortly after the 2024/25 season wrapped up, addressing an issue that had been troubling him towards the back end of the campaign. The procedure was described as minor, with the recovery timeline always expected to be short.
His return comes as a major boost for Brendan Rodgers, who will be counting on the centre-back to play a key role in Celtic’s title defence and European qualifiers.
Carter-Vickers has been a pivotal figure at the heart of the backline since his arrival from Tottenham, and keeping him fit will be crucial going into the new campaign.
Celtic shared a photo of the 27-year-old in training with the caption: “CCV putting in the hard work under the Portuguese sun,” signalling his return to action and positive progress ahead of the competitive fixtures.

Carter-Vickers getting back into training is a big boost after a season where his game time had to be managed carefully. He missed several matches towards the end of last year as the club looked to protect his knee, with surgery delayed until after the league was finished.
Rodgers will now look to bring the American centre-back back into the squad gradually as pre-season moves on. With important Champions League qualifiers and the Premiership kicking off soon, Carter-Vickers will be key to tightening up the defence.

There’s still a bit of time before Celtic’s first proper matches, giving the staff a chance to build his fitness back up without putting him under pressure. His steady presence and experience at the back have been vital, and Rodgers will want to see him fully past the injury troubles.
As Celtic aim to start the 2025/26 season strongly, having one of their most reliable players back training is a clear positive as work continues in Portugal.
