Celtic have added another promising youngster to their ranks with the signing of 19-year-old forward Callum Osmand from Fulham.

Osmand, who has signed a long-term contract at Parkhead, arrives with a strong reputation from his time in Fulham’s youth setup. His former U-21s coach, Tom Hounsell, believes the move north will give the attacker the platform to fulfil his potential in a first-team environment.
The switch offers the chance to compete regularly for silverware and play European football, something far less likely at his former club. Hounsell sees the deal as a smart fit for both parties and backed Osmand to bring flair and excitement to Celtic’s forward line.
He pointed to the striker’s pace and direct approach as traits that could surprise some supporters and is confident the youngster has what it takes to make a real impact under Brendan Rodgers.
He said: (TCW), “Callum is one of those players who can get supporters off their seats. The directness and speed with which he plays may be an eye-opener to some of the Celtic fans. He’ll be a real threat to defences and will create moments that are memorable.
He’s chosen to leave Fulham and take on a new challenge at a massive club like Celtic, which shows his self-belief. It’s not easy for young players to make that kind of move, but he has all the tools to be a success.
“He’ll be judged on goals, which brings pressure, but that’s something he’s dealt with before. He enjoys that kind of expectation, and I believe he’ll thrive under Brendan Rodgers. This is Celtic’s gain.”
Osmand joins a growing list of English youth talents who have looked for a clearer pathway north of the border, and Celtic have once again signed a player who arrives with pedigree and potential. His arrival bolsters attacking options and adds another hungry forward to Rodgers’ squad as pre-season preparations begin.

The move to Celtic Park offers the youngster the platform to play in front of 60,000 fans, compete for major honours, and test himself in Europe. While competition for places will be difficult, the opportunity is there for Osmand to make an impact.
Celtic’s track record of developing young players and giving them the stage to thrive will be a source of encouragement for the teenager and those backing him. For Osmand, it’s now about grabbing his chance, and his former coach is in no doubt he’s ready for it.
