BRENDAN Rodgers has revealed that Celtic captain Callum McGregor played a pivotal role in his decision to return as manager of the Scottish football giants.

Brendan Rodgers sealed his Celtic return earlier this week, signing a three-year contract at the club four years after he left for the Premier League.
McGregor flew to Majorca to meet with Rodgers for a lunch before the latter signed his deal to return to Celtic Park, providing him with valuable insights into the current squad and the state of the club.
Speaking about the meeting, Rodgers said: [Celtic TV]
“I have to say he was a big part of my decision to come back as well, because I had a lunch with him for a few hours in Majorca, and just understanding the squad and where it was at and what he felt the club was at, he gave me some great feedback that the group is hungry, it’s young and ready to keep pushing forward.”
While it is unusual for a club captain to meet with a potential manager in this manner, this development is a positive sign for Celtic fans who may need reassurance about the club’s direction.
McGregor’s proactive approach and Rodgers’ willingness to listen and learn from the captain’s insights demonstrate a collaborative spirit that bodes well for the club’s future.
