Callum McGregor’s “Slap in the Face”

LAST SEASON, Callum McGregor was part of the side that lost ten in a row. It was hard for the midfielder to see his boyhood club fall apart in the way it did last season.

Everything that could’ve gone wrong went wrong. With our biggest stars leaving, and a rebuild to be completed, many fans had written off this season.

However, Ange had big plans for the club, and within ten months, he had secured a domestic double, with the League Cup and League Title returning home to Paradise.

Previously, the captain has admitted he could’ve walked away. But he stood by his club and is now reaping the rewards.

Speaking to BBC Sportsound, Callum revealed his mentality and said he took last season as a ‘slap in the face’ and was determined to be successful this season, saying;

“You’ve got to believe in yourself. We had a good run at being champions. You take a slap in the face. Then you’ve got to show your personality. You’ve got to come back. Show you’re made of strong stuff. These scenes tonight will live in my heart forever.”

Callum will now lift the trophy on Saturday after the Hoops play Motherwell.
