Callum McGregor’s High Praise for Daniel Kelly

Celtic captain Callum McGregor has lavished praise on the club’s emerging talent, Daniel Kelly, following the youngster’s impressive display against Dundee in a 7-1 victory.

The match, which saw Celtic dominate from start to finish, was a platform for Kelly to showcase his abilities, with a standout goal in the 63rd minute that highlighted his confidence and skill.

The goal aside, he looked a really tidy player who wouldn’t be pushed off the ball easily. He was comfortable on the ball and was constantly finding space for himself. It was a really positive outing and fans will be keen to see more of him.

McGregor’s commendation of Kelly was glowing, emphasising not just the player’s on-pitch talent but his character off it. According to McGregor, Kelly has been exceptional since joining the first-team squad, demonstrating a strong personality, high-quality football skills, and an eagerness to learn and improve.

Speaking to Celtic TV, Callum McGregor said: “Brilliant, probably over the time I have been here we keep trying to add the young players from getting them into the first team from the academy. This guy has been outstanding since he came into the group.

“He has real personality, brilliant quality, great kid, wants to learn, work as hard as they can. all these attributes. It’s so important if you want to have a career here, he’s got that in spades. When you come on you need to take your chance and that’s exactly what he did, brilliant finish as well.

“The challenge is to keep going, keep wanting more. Like I said the group really love him in terms of his personality, the way that he plays and the way that he trains. So we just need more of that from him.”

When Callum McGregor scored his first goal in the Hoops, Kelly was just 8 years old.
