Callum McGregor Makes January Transfer Prediction

Celtic’s European campaign came to an end on Tuesday evening in Rome. A Ciro Immobile double ended all hopes of a Hoops resurgence in the Champions League.

It was a tough defeat for the players and supporters, but captain Callum McGregor thinks his manager Brendan Rodgers will be backed by the board to improve things in January. He said (Football Scotland): “We want to continue to push as a club and as a group and I’m sure they (the Celtic board) will do that. I think they will. January is notorious for being the one where they can see how the first half of the season plays out.

“And whatever we need, they have a good track record of doing that, in terms of backing the team and backing the manager. I am sure that’ll happen in January.”

The gaffer and fans most definitely want to see more quality added to the Parkhead ranks. While one can ask the board to give backing, the scouting department needs looked at, too.

Several players signed over the past few windows are now outcasts which is undoubtedly a concern. January, however, presents a fresh opportunity for the club to improve and build on a squad that currently boasts a significant lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
