Celtic captain Callum McGregor says there was a strange atmosphere in the Hoops’ dressing room after they dropped points at Tannadice on Sunday.
The Bhoys couldn’t break down a stubborn Dundee United side who, throughout the match, defended astutely. Jim Goodwin set up his team wisely, and the Bhoys couldn’t break the Arabs down.
Other than an Arne Engels toe-poke and Kyogo one-on-one that he should’ve scored, Brendan Rodgers’ men didn’t muster much. It was a lacklustre display in the city of discovery.
There is no room for panic, however. Celtic remain nine points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership and have back-to-back home games later this week, from which they will aim to take six points.
Skipper McGregor, though, doesn’t like dropping points and lifted the lid on the ‘weird’ changing room atmosphere post-match at the weekend: “As soon as you drop points, it feels like you’ve lost,” he said (The Celtic Way).
“It’s a weird feeling, the place (dressing room) is quiet and it doesn’t have its usual feel. You try and limit the amount of times throughout the season that you feel like that.
“When it does happen then the players feel it amongst themselves and they do everything they can to put it right in the next game.”
McGregor and Co. will look to bounce back when Motherwell visit Parkhead on Boxing Day at 3pm. Securing three points against the Steelmen is essential.
St. Johnstone then travel down to Glasgow from Perth on Sunday before the hotly anticipated New Year trip to Ibrox comes into view.
The Scottish Premiership champions, though, will take things game by game amid a packed schedule between now and March.
