Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor has spoken positively about his relationship with manager Brendan Rodgers, underlining the mutual respect and understanding that exists between them.

The pair previously worked together during Rodgers’ first stint as manager at Celtic, a period that saw significant success for the club.
McGregor flew out to Majorca to meet with Rodgers when the manager was approached for a second term at the club, a move that underscores the strong bond between the two. This meeting highlighted the reciprocal nature of their relationship.
The Celtic captain is expecting a lot of the players to take their game to the next level under Brendan Rodgers, just as he did during the manager’s first spell at the club.
Speaking about his expectations for the squad under Rodgers’ leadership, McGregor said,”I think it’s obviously well documented the relationship that me and the manager have and had the last time we were here. We enjoyed a lot of success. I learned a lot from him. He probably elevated my game at a time when I really needed it and I’m always grateful to him for that as well.” [Celtic TV]
McGregor also praised Rodgers for his personal approach to player development, saying, “He took so much time to help develop me and get to know me as a person as well. We have a great relationship and obviously coming back in, a little bit similar in terms of the group that we’ve got.”
The Celtic midfielder believes that the current squad, which boasts a lot of talent in the middle part of their careers, can benefit greatly from Rodgers’ tactical acumen. “A lot of really good talent probably in that middle part of their career where a real tactical idea and tactical coach can help the boys progress even more,” he said.
McGregor concluded by stating the ultimate goal for everyone at the club: “I think that’s everybody’s aim at the club is always to progress as players and ultimately as a group, and the main reason we’re here is to bring success to the football club.”
McGregor’s comments underline the positive atmosphere at Celtic under Rodgers’ leadership and the high expectations for the squad’s development and success in the coming seasons.
