Celtic captain Callum McGregor opened the scoring for Scotland at Hampden on Tuesday night in what was a bizarre evening.
The treble winning Celtic star scored with six minutes played on a water logged Hampden pitch. The rain was causing all sorts of havoc and straight after Callum’s goal, Georgia wanted the game called off.
The referee then postponed play for an initial 20 minutes for the stadium staff to attempt to get the pitch in order. It failed an inspection after that time and another 20 minutes were given. The players then came back out to warm up for a 9pm restart.
The debating and arguing between the teams and officials went on next to the tunnel.
BBC presenter Connie McLaughlin managed to hear some of the conversations going on. She told ViaPlay live on air that Callum was poking fun at the Georgia players for not wanting to play and even said they’d get on a flight to Georgia and play, if need be.

Connie McLaughlin said: “The Georgia players are not happy, the bounce of the ball, they wanted this game to be played tomorrow.
“Then Callum McGregor piped in and said well in actual fact, if you want the game played at all, then realistically we are happy to come to Georgia. Play there. That’s how confident they are. From the Scotland team perspective, they are desperate to get this one on.”
The game finally kicked off an hour and 45 minutes later. Cal Mac’s 3rd goal for his country setting them on their way.
Callum and his Celtic teammates were at Hampden just over two weeks ago when the chance of sun stroke was more likely than a water logged pitch. The Hoops captain helped secure the treble on Ange Postecoglou’s final game in charge.
Since then, the club have reappointed Brendan Rodgers to the hot seat and the Irishman is now preparing for his second stint in charge of the club.
